Barge Sinks Tourist Boat in Delaware River After Philly Boat Accident

On July 7th, 2010, an 800-foot long, unmanned barge being pulled by a tugboat collided with a tourist boat that was sitting motionless on the Delaware River. The tourist boat had been waiting for assistance to arrive due to a fire that had broken out onboard the ship prior to the collision. The 37 people aboard the tourist boat were cast into the river because of the resulting collision, with all but two passengers accounted for. Nine people were immediately treated for minor injuries, with four tourist boat passengers being transported to Hahnemann University Hospital where physicians were evaluating their conditions.
