The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the accident. They routinely inspect workplaces for hazards that relate to building codes, equipment maintenance, ventilation and more. The regulations they put in place can be significant in a worker’s compensation claim.

Of the 4,340 U.S. workers who were injured in 2009, 112 died after getting caught in running equipment. Twenty-five were from Pennsylvania and 12 from New Jersey. Twenty percent of all workers killed that year were between 35 and 44 years of age. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/cfoi.pdf
