Philadelphia Mother 3 Sons Killed In Car Accident

Up and down the East Coast this morning, commuters were reading about the tragic death of a young Philadelphia woman and three of her four children. Their story is so dramatic and so unjust that it has captured the attention of media outlets throughout the country.

The woman and her children were killed in a car accident on a stretch of road that is locally infamous for being dangerous for pedestrians.

Authorities believe that the 27-year-old woman and her four sons were crossing Roosevelt Boulevard around 10:30 p.m Tuesday. It is not known whether they were using a crosswalk, although they were close to one.

They were struck by an oncoming 2012 Audi that witnesses said was driving excessively fast. Police have said the woman and children were thrown about 200 feet by the force of the crash.

The woman and one of her sons, a 23-month-old, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A second son, this one 9 months old, died after being hospitalized Tuesday night. A fourth son, who was 4 years old, died Wednesday morning.

The woman’s fourth son, who is 5 years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Police believe the 2012 Audi may have been street-racing a 1994 Honda. They have not made any arrests yet, but apparently, charges are pending against the 22-year-old driver of the Audi. Police closed the highway until 6 a.m. Wednesday

Not all car accidents are this tragic or compelling, yet even so, they injurethousands of Pennsylvania residents each year.
