Three Roofers Hospitalized Due To Heat Near Philadelphia

Working in excessive heat can cause problems for just about anyone. It doesn’t take a Pennsylvania Workplace Injuries Lawyer to understand that means that the recent extreme heat wave is likely to have caused more incidents than normal. Three workers recently suffered from this heat and they had to be taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred near Philadelphia where some roofers were working on the Chichester Middle School. The company that is doing the work employs approximately 27 roofers on the job site. Three of them fell ill recently and were taken to the hospital for heat-related illness. It is unclear what their current status is. The site is now subject to an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspection that could take up to six months to complete. The same company was last investigated by OSHA in November, 2011 in New York City and in Philadelphia in August, 2011. In Philadelphia, there were two violations issues, one for an “other-than-serious” violation.

Oftentimes when workplace injuries occur, the employer or the insurance company, after the proper report has been filed, will pay for any medical expenses incurred and grant some compensation for the missed time. When that does not happen for whatever reason, it is often necessary to contact Workplace Injury Lawyers in Philadelphia to be able to obtain a settlement and, if necessary, file a lawsuit. The best way to make sure the recovery can happen as quickly as possible is to get into writing the entire nature of the accident, including how it happened, where it happened, and other pertinent information, such as weather.

Recovering from a workplace injury is always difficult on the worker as well as his or her family. Seeking out assistance is often the best way to get back to work as quickly as possible.
