4 Pennsylvania Teens Killed In Chesco Car Crash

Fourth of July weekend is notorious for being dangerous for Pennsylvania teens behind the wheel. Sadly, this year proved no different after four teens were killed in a car accident in Chester County early Sunday.

Police have said the “excessive speed” was a factor in the deadly crash, which occurred on Route 82 just north of Route 322. A police statement that was released to the public also revealed that the four teenagers had not been wearing seatbelts and “illegal substances were found at the crash scene.”

It was reported that the car containing the four male victims flipped over and slid up an embankment close to 1 a.m., ejecting all four from the vehicle. At this point it has not been reported who was driving the vehicle, but the boys’ ages range from 14 to 17-years-old.

Apparently the intersection near where the accident occurred is known to be dangerous by those in the area. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that there is a sign close to the intersections with blinking lights that says “Dip 200 feet.” Additionally, there is a bump on Route 322.

Although there had been speculation that the teens were on the run from police at the time the accident happened, a traffic safety officer said that this was not the case. The accident is still under investigation, the safety officer said.

The Chester County coroner performed autopsies on all four of the boys and took blood samples, but the results have not yet been released. For now, the families of the young men killed are forced to make funeral arrangements as mourners gather at a growing memorial at the scene of the accident.
