There is a possibility for employees in any workplace to be injured on the job. However, some professions are inherently more dangerous than others. A 55-year-old mechanic working for the company was operating a paving roller when it lurched forward, pinning and ultimately killing him.
The injury spurred an investigation by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Through their investigation, OSHA determined that the company was not properly training employees on safe operation procedures for the roller. The company also received OSHA citations for hazards unrelated to the paving roller that could result in electrocution and falling. OSHA is recommending a fine of $41,000.
