Worker Killed At Leaf Composting Facility

Falling objects are responsible for hundreds of workers being killed and many more injured every year. Recently, a 53-year-old worker was killed at a municipal leaf composting facility in South Jersey. NJ.com reported that the victim was unloading a box truck on March 18 when the hydraulic bed fell on him. He died from a head injury.

There are many instances in which a worker could be struck by a falling object.  Workers may be struck by things falling from storage racks, office workers can be hit by boxes of supplies, and construction workers may be hit by construction materials or supplies. When victims are struck by a falling object it often results in blows to the head, shoulders and arms, leading to brain injuries, broken bones, and internal injuries. When a large object falls on a worker, it may even result in death.

In 2009, there were 272 United States workers who died after being hit by a falling object.

Cherry Injury Law represent families of workers who were killed in accidents caused by falling objects. They can launch an investigation into the accident to make sure that safety measures were in place. They will find out if anyone else was working with the victim at the time and if the accident was caused by someone else’s negligence. They will also determine if the accident was the result of a defective product.
