Over 808 Car Accidents In Pennsylvania Over Memorial Day

Most of us have been in a fender bender at some point in our lives, the majority of which are not serious and result in only minor damage. Car accidents in Pennsylvania tend to be more common over holidays when there are more people traveling and therefore more cars on the road.

This appears to have been true this Memorial Day weekend, over which the state saw 808 accidents, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Unfortunately, not all of these accidents were mere fender benders as 13 people were killed and another 294 were left injured.

Police also told reporters that the statistics only reflect accidents that were investigated by the state police, so there could be hundreds more accidents to which local police responded.

Not surprisingly, the statistics did not sway much from last year’s Memorial Day weekend, which saw 16 deaths, 290 injuries and 776 crashes on the state’s roads.

One thing to remember after being involved in a car accident, whether it is minor or severe, is that the other driver’s auto insurance company will likely contact you right away to offer a settlement. This settlement may seem appealing, but remember, it is only the first offer.

Especially if you have been injured in the accident, it’s important that you are able to get the medical treatment you need as well as compensation for lost wages and any other damages that you may be entitled to.

An experienced personal injury attorney can help to protect your best interests and stand up to the insurance companies to ensure that you get the settlement you deserve.
