Woman Killed In Bizarre Accident On Philadelphia Turnpike

Everyone knows that wearing a seatbelt is the best way to stay safe while traveling in a motor vehicle. But sometimes even a seatbelt isn’t enough to protect a motorist from a catastrophic motor vehicle accident.

On Saturday, a suburban Philadelphia woman appears to simply have been in the wrong place at the wrong time when a road sign flew through the air and crashed through her windshield on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Unfortunately, the 31-year-old woman died on Monday afternoon as a result of the injuries she sustained in the accident. The Norristown woman had worked as a web editor for Montgomery Media, a Journal Register Company, after a stint as a freelance reporter.

According to officials, the road sign had been clipped by a truck, which sent it hurling through the air. Police are still investigating the accident, but It appears that no charges have been filed as of yet. No further details have been released.

Following a tragic accident like this, family and friends of the victim are left searching for an explanation. Following an investigation, it is sometimes possible for the family of the accident victim to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the person or entity responsible for the accident.

However, on rare occasions, the behavior at issue is so far removed from the resulting injury that the party cannot be held liable. Ultimately, it has to be “reasonably foreseeable” that the negligent actions could lead to the resulting injury.

Of course, this isn’t always an easy question to answer, which is what judges and juries are for.
