Philadelphia Area Man Arrested For Dui And He Already Has 6

When people are injured or killed in drunk driving car accidents, it can be very difficult for others to accept. Drunk driving accidents are avoidable, which makes it tough to understand why these continue to happen here in Philadelphia and throughout the nation. Drinking and driving is not only incredibly dangerous, but it is also illegal and there is simply no excuse for it.

NBC Philadelphia reported today that a local man who was arrested last week on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol already has six DUI convictions under his belt–six.

The 54-year-old man had been arrested for DUI as recently as March before he was arrested again last week. This most recent arrest happened after the man, behind the wheel of a Nissan, crashed into a motorcycle as he was leaving a bar. The motorcyclist was thrown from her bike, suffering a broken pelvis among other injuries.

After the accident, the man apparently got out of his vehicle and went back into the bar. When he was arrested, he smelled like alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot, according to the police.

Yesterday, his bail was revoked in the case, which means he will likely remain in prison until his preliminary hearing next month.

It is critical for law enforcement here in Philadelphia to keep drunk drivers off of our roads. When people drink and drive, it is only a matter of time before they injure themselves or others.

Those who have been injured as the result of a drunk driver should seek legal counsel. It is often possible to hold drunk drivers financially accountable for medical expenses and other costs related to accidents.
