Food Network Host Suffers Injuries In Philadelphia Wreck

Marc Summers is a television host who has made a living off of his familiar face over the past couple decades. Summers’ most recent TV hosting gig has been on the Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible”, which he was in Philadelphia shooting an episode for last week when he was involved in a serious car accident.

According to reports, Summers was in a cab after a shooting for the TV show when the cab driver lost control of the vehicle during a “torrential downpour.” Reportedly, the cab hydroplaned and then crashed, causing Summers’ face to slam into the partition that divides the front seats from the back seats.

Summers, who is also the host of “Unwrapped” on the Food Network, released a statement to People magazine saying that the left side of his face had been severely damaged in the accident. He said everything below his left eye socket was “just wiped out.” He added that he is having vision problems in his left eye and that he had titanium and screws in his face.

People reported that Summers had to be in surgery for hours to have his face reconstructed. Summers told the magazine that he feels lucky he did not suffer brain damage in the accident. He said he hopes to be good as new once the swelling goes down.

It is possible that a personal injury lawsuit could result from the accident if negligence played a role in the wreck. Summers could potentially seek lost wages and earning potential if the damage to his face results in him losing his job or future hosting jobs. The cab company that employs the driver would likely be named as the defendant in a personal injury suit.
